Customer Service is World Class at MOSI

World Class Service AwardA quality standard normally associated with five star hotels has been awarded to Manchester’s Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI).

The Liverpool Road museum is the first museum in the country to gain the ‘World Class Service’ standard for its commitment to customer service.

This places MOSI alongside leading hotel groups such as the Radisson Edwardian and Hilton Hotels as well as Manchester City Football Club and Manchester Airport.

Museum Director, Steve Davies MBE, said: “This is fantastic news for MOSI and is a credit to all our staff who work tirelessly to make the museum a great place to visit.

“As leaders in our field, this is a key milestone on our journey towards becoming a world-class cultural attraction. We wanted to broaden our horizons and look to other sectors to find the best in customer service. The luxury hotel market was a great starting point for us due to their high standards and attention to detail. The pass mark is even higher next year, however, and we will be making further improvements over the next 12 months,” he added.

The prestigious accolade followed a rigorous full-day assessment of over 700 points, looking at everything from the way visitors are looked after to the condition of the galleries.

Howard Raynor, founder of the World Class Service standard and former Chief Executive of the city’s Bridgewater Hall, commented: “We worked closely with MOSI to adapt the standard for the museum and galleries sector. After a lot of hard work on both sides, we awarded the standard to MOSI which is now hoping to use its knowledge to help other attractions gain accreditation.”

MOSI has also been awarded renewed accreditation of two other quality standards – Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service (VAQAS) and the Customer Service Excellence chartermark.
