Cyclists go retro to picnic at MOSI
Retro
fashionistas will be fast-wheeling to an event at MOSI at the
weekend as the Museum holds a retro bicycle picnic on 7 August
2010.
The event, which is part of the Heroes of Transport festival weekend (7-8 August), will include riders of vintage bicycles and the Museum's own costume characters in period costumes. Organisers are encouraging everyone to come in retro gear with their bikes and bring a picnic.
There will be a barbecue, as well as tea and cakes at the Museum's own café, and the picnic will be held on the station platform, where visitors can watch the steam trains and other vehicles which will be on display during the festival. The Museum's extensive bicycle collection will be on display in the Air and Space Hall.
The event is held on the same day as a gathering of Sinclair C5s and their owners, to celebrate the 25 anniversary of the vehicle.
Bicycle picnic organiser Sarah Roe said:
"There will be lots going on at MOSI next weekend as we're celebrating all things transport-related. Take this chance to have your picnic at our unique site - the world's first passenger railway. Dress stylishly, with a hint of retro, and don't forget to bring your bike!"
