Manchester Santa arrives by st

In Manchester Santa Claus arrives on a steam locomotive rather than by reindeer. Santa Claus will have a seasonal base at MOSI this year as part of a series of festive events at the Museum.

Santa's Grotto will open at MOSI during every weekend* in December as well as 19-23 December 2011. Children will receive a gift from Santa and can take part in a range of craft activities, while one of MOSI's steam locomotives will also be open for rides.

Tony Hill, Director at MOSI said:

"Santa's Grotto at MOSI will be a magical experience for children and a fantastic day out for the family. Tickets include a visit to Santa's Grotto, a free gift and the chance to take part in craft workshops. This is a unique historic site, particularly as the steam locomotive will be running too, which is very atmospheric in the winter with its clouds of steam. You could almost imagine that Santa arrived on a steam loco rather than by his traditional reindeer carriage!"
