Manchester Santa hauled by steam loco
I
In Manchester
Santa Claus will arrive on a steam locomotive rather than by
reindeer. Santa Claus will have a seasonal base at MOSI this year
as part of a series of festive events at the Museum.
Santa's Grotto will open in MOSI's station building (part of the former Liverpool Road station) during every weekend in December as well as 20-23 December. Children will receive a gift from Santa and can take part in a range of craft activities, while MOSI's replica 1830 Planet steam locomotive will also be open for rides.
Tony Hill, Director at MOSI said:
"Santa's Grotto at MOSI will be a magical experience for children and a fantastic day out for the family. Tickets include a visit to Santa's Grotto, a free gift and the chance to take part in craft workshops. This is a unique historic site, particularly as the steam locomotive will be running too, which is very atmospheric in the winter with its clouds of steam. You could almost imagine that Santa arrived on a steam loco rather than by his traditional reindeer carriage! For anyone arriving after 10 December our popular hands-on Experiment gallery will also be open."
