MOSI helps toddlers get experimental

XperitotsA monthly science-themed session aimed at under-fives has started at MOSI as part of a range of educational activities now available following the £9m redevelopment of the Great Western Warehouse. The new-improved Experitots group will be held in the popular, revamped hands-on science gallery Experiment!, which includes around 30 interactive exhibits and activities, a mix of old and new to engage audiences about science.

Experitots sessions use fun, creative activities such as puppet making and storytelling to encourage toddlers to experiment and explore the world of science. Sessions, which are £3 for an adult with one child, include the themes of Light and Colour, Space, Senses, Celebrations and 1,2,3 Let's Count!

MOSI Learning Manager Iain Morley said: "I'm delighted that we can now feature a new improved version of Experitots. Experiment is one of our most inspiring galleries for children and this popular programme for toddlers helps our very youngest visitors to get the most out of this fantastic space. Do book early though as we expect demand to be high!"

Experiment! gallery is now based on the first floor of the Great Western Warehouse. It includes new interactives such as the mirror of infinity, a skeleton on a bike, and colourful tubes to test the viscosity of different liquids with bubbles. There are also old favourites such as the Mini (which can be lifted by a small child thanks to the simple power of gears), the tornado machine and the turbulence dome.

Experiment!, which has been part-funded by SITA Trust, is one of two new galleries that are part of MOSI's £9 million redevelopment, including a new learning centre, a conference centre, restaurant, coffee shop and gift shop. Most of the interactives in Experiment! gallery have been created from recycled plastic as part of the Making Waste Work section, and are part of a trail across the site.
