After submitting your search, you will either get a message telling you that no matches having been found or you will see a list of the matching items. The list formats vary according to which collection category you choose.
Object collections and all collections results list
Each item is summarised by an image thumbnail and three elements of data, arranged in columns. The results are presented in batches of 20; if more than 20 matches were found, there will be a 'Next' link at the bottom of the first batch. You can change to the 'contact sheet' format (described under Image collections result list below) by clicking on the link at the top and bottom of the list. Clicking on the image itself brings up an enlarged view, while clicking on the term in second column ('Item Name') brings up the record view.
Archive collections results list
This results list consists of three columns showing the 'Collection Name', the 'Object Summary' and the 'Registration Number', as these are the fields that are most useful for identifying archive material. The results are presented in batches of 20; if more than 20 matches were found, there will be a 'Next' link at the bottom of the first batch.
Image collections result list
This list is presented in a 'contact sheet' format showing thumbnail images of the matching items with their 'Object Name' and 'Registration Number' below. The results are presented in batches of 20 so if more than 20 matches were found, there will be a 'Next' link at the bottom of the first batch. If you want to see more information before displaying the item records, you can change to a list view by clicking on the link at the top and bottom of the list. The list view shows the same columns as the archive collections list, but with the addition of the thumbnail image. Clicking on an image brings up an enlarged view, while clicking on the 'Collection Name' displays the individual record.
