Collections Centre
The first of its kind in the country,
the Collections Centre is a cross between a store, a gallery and a
study centre. It allows us to make more of our collections publicly
accessible. The Collections Centre includes 35 rows of mobile
object cabinets, where you can see a good cross-section of the
smaller objects in our collections. There are also four stores that
contain large objects, such as printing presses, generators and
washing machines.
We aim to provide a choice of
information services. The Welcome Area has an informal reading area
and four computers with Internet access. The adjoining Study Area
provides access to the archive collections and reference library.
Staff will assist you by providing information that the Museum
holds or recommending books, web sites and other museums, libraries
or record offices. Small changing displays offer a taste of the
range of our collections.
The Collections Centre is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10.00 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. The Study Area is open Tuesdays to Thursdays, 10.00 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.
