Loans from the collection
The Museum welcomes requests to borrow items from its collections. Borrowers must be able to meet standards regarding security, environment and transport that are laid down in the Government Indemnity Scheme. This scheme applies to all museums and similar bodies that are funded by national government departments. You can find out about the Government Indemnity Scheme on the Department of Culture, Media and Sport's website.
While the Museum is willing to lend items that are not on display, it is only likely to agree to loans of items displayed in its permanent galleries in exceptional circumstances. The first step in arranging a loan would be to contact the relevant curator or archivist (see Who we are). You would then be asked to provide details of the prospective venue by completing a Facilities Report.
