Who we are

This brief description of the responsibilities of Collections staff should help you to identify the right person to contact if you wish to make an enquiry or an offer.

Pauline Webb, Collections Manager
Pauline leads the Collections Department and deals with enquiries regarding collections policies and procedures.

Jan Hicks, Senior Archivist
Jan is responsible for our archive collections, which include the Electricity Council, Ferranti and Factory Records Archives, and the public archives service provided in the Collections Centre.

Jan Shearsmith, Archivist
Jan assists in developing and cataloguing our archive collections and in providing public access to the archive collections.

Ceri Forster, Archivist
Ceri assists in developing and cataloguing our archive collections and in providing public access to the archive collections.

John Beckerson, Senior Curator
John is responsible for coordinating the object collections as a whole and has specialist responsibilities for the engine section of the Power Hall, the Electricity Gallery and Gas Gallery. He also deals with enquiries regarding steam engines, internal-combustion engines, hydraulic power, electricity generation, the gas supply industry and coal mining. 

Nick Forder, Curator (Transport)
Nick is responsible for the Air & Space Hall and the Rail Transport section of the Power Hall. He also deals with enquiries regarding air, rail and road transport. 

Adam Daber, Curator (Industry)
Adam is responsible for the Textiles Gallery and Connecting Manchester Gallery. He also deals with enquiries regarding printing, papermaking and machine tools.

Meg McHugh, Curator (Community History)
Meg is responsible for the Making of Manchester and Underground Manchester galleries, the First Class Booking Hall, Liverpool and Manchester Railway Exhibition, The Warehouse for the World audio-visual show and for the domestic appliance sections of the Electricity Gallery and Gas Gallery. She also deals with enquiries regarding the food industry.

Catherine Rushmore, Curator (Science)
Catherine is responsible for the Manchester Science Gallery, the Revolution Manchester Gallery and the Computing in Manchester section of the Electricity Gallery. She also deals with enquiries relating to the photographical equipment, telegraphy and telephony collections.

Sarah Baines, Collections Centre Facilitator
Sarah runs the enquiry service in the Collections Centre Welcome Area and is the first point of call for Collections Centre enquiries. She also handles general enquiries about the collections.

Rachel Rimmer, Senior Collections Care Officer
Rachel is a conservator and is responsible for the care of the Museum's object and archive collections, including their environment and storage.

Frances Keating, Collections Care Officer
Fran is a conservator who assists with the care of the Museum's object and archive collections.

Sallyann Browning, Collections Administrator
Sallyann provides administrative support to all staff in the Department and maintains the Explore MoSI and Collections sections of the website.
