KS2 Cross-curricular
Cross-curricular sessions for KS2:
- cost £3.00 per pupil (Minimum group charge of £66.00*)
- are led by a Museum Education Officer
- last 1 hour
- are closely linked to the National Curriculum
- include hands-on practical activities
- can be booked for classes of up to 36 children
- include a Teachers' Pack with more information and resources
*There is no minimum group charge for special needs groups
Fabric Printing
Print on cotton fabric using our historic blocks. Learn about the textile printing industry, dyes and fabrics. Each child will need to bring an old, plain T-shirt to print on. Session available 12 May to 16 July 2008 and 18 May to 17 July 2009.
Paper Recycling
What is paper? How is paper made? Who invented it? The children make their own recycled sheet of paper by hand using a mould and deckle. Session available 2 June to 18 July 2008; 3 Nov 2007 to 9 Jan 2009 and 11 May to 17 July 2009.
From Fibre to Fabric
Where does cotton come from? How is it made into fabric? What other materials are used to make textiles? A one-hour session in the Textiles Gallery. Combine with a free demonstration of our historic cotton spinning and weaving machinery in action. (Max. 30 pupils) A PowerPoint presentation of the historic images used in the session can be downloaded from here for follow up work. Available every weekday during school term time.
