Museum of Science and Industry

Manchester's transformation into the world's first industrial city was underpinned by the hidden history of water supply and sanitation. For many years, north west based United Utilities have been a sponsor of a section in one of MOSI's most memorable galleries, Underground Manchester. In mid 2011, United Utilities and MOSI once again partnered up to improve and enhance the final room in the gallery.

Opening in February 2012, the new section of Underground Manchester will include some fantastic interactive exhibits including the very much anticipated 'Boggy the Bog Monster and 'Terry: the Talking Toilet'.

The space will examine themes such as where our water comes from, where waste goes and who keeps the system going, as well as addressing how water consumption changed since the early twentieth century and what we can all do to help conserve water and reduce water pollution.
