Museum of Science and Industry

Galleries and Redevelopment

'Revolution MOSI' is the Museum's visionary redevelopment plan which aims to transform the visitor experience and ensure MOSI is a world class visitor attraction for the 21st century.

The first phase has transformed the main entrance building to create new spaces that capture visitor imagination and tell the story of Manchester's contribution to science and industry. These include:

  • 'Revolution Manchester' - a brand new introductory gallery featuring breathtaking objects from MOSI's collections
  • Popular family gallery Experiment has been revamped, with brand new interactive objects to engage the next generation of scientists
  • A major new education centre enabling MOSI to increase the number and scope of our award winning learning activities
  • A new cafĂ©, shop, restaurant and hospitality spaces further enhancing the visitor experience and offer.

The next phase includes redisplaying the Electricity Gallery and the Gas Gallery to create a suite of Energy Galleries which show the latest developments in sustainable energies.

In all, the development programme will enable the Museum to engage a larger and more diverse audience in the scientific, industrial and technological developments of our region - past, present and future - in partnership with local businesses, universities and other organisations. As a result, we expect visitor numbers to exceed 1 million, positioning the Museum as one of the top ten visitor attractions in North West England.

We are looking for companies and individuals to support our ambitious redevelopment plans. Supporters will receive on-site acknowledgment and a range of hospitality and branding benefits. If you would like to be a part of MOSI's future and help to make our redevelopment plans possible either through sponsorship or a personal donation please contact John Dennis, Head of Fundraising, on 0161 606 0168 or email j.dennis@mosi.org.uk
