By car: MOSI is located on Liverpool Road in Castlefield, minutes from Manchester city centre. It is clearly signposted from all main routes into the city - simply follow the brown tourist signs. The nearest motorways are the M602 and the M60.

Car parking on-site costs £7.00 before 9.00am, £5.00 after 9.00am and £3.00 after 3.00pm.

Car parking - important notice 1
BUPA Great Manchester Run - Sun 20 May
Sunday 20 May is the BUPA Great Manchester Run and Great Powerade CityGames and there will be a number of road closures in the area including some sections of Deansgate, which will be closed from 7am on Thursday 17 May until midnight on Sunday 20 May. Full details can be found here.

Car parking - important notice 2
The car park entrance has permanently moved to Water Street (from Lower Byrom Street). Closing the upper level car park has been done in order to improve visitor safety, allow the historic site to shine, plus it makes a great event space.

The car park fills up quickly at weekends and during holidays, so we advise that people arrive early, especially now there will be reduced capacity due to the changes mentioned above.

If the car park is full, there are a number of NCP alternatives nearby, including on Water Street and on Deansgate.

Disabled parking: There are two on-street Blue Badge spaces outside the Museum's Coffee Shop on Lower Byrom Street. There are also a limited number of spaces for Blue Badge holders on the Museum's car park (see above for charges). These cannot be reserved and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

By train: Nearest railway station: Deansgate. It is a five minute walk from Deansgate to MOSI.

Deansgate station is serviced by direct rail services from Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road railway stations.

By tram: Nearest Metrolink (tram) station: Deansgate-Castlefield (formerly GMEX). This stop is next to Manchester Central Convention Centre. It is a five minute walk from to MOSI.

The Deansgate-Castlefield tram stop is serviced by Metrolink trams from Manchester city centre, Manchester Victoria railway station and other parts of Greater Manchester.

By bus: Bus No. 33 from Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester city centre stops outside MOSI on Liverpool Road. The free Metroshuttle No. 2 bus (green route) stops outside the Museum entrance on Lower Byrom Street.
